The "charreadas" are the typical competitive encounter where the charros (rural mexican workers), demonstrate their skills while riding their horses. Here: catching the bull by the tail, in order to make it roll; the winner is the faster in achieving that.

Huicholes are one of the many original ethnical communities of Mexico, mainly based in the central Pacific coast state of Nayarit. They managed to preserve their traditions, believes and customs through the centuries. They are very easy to identify, thanks to their colorful dresses, just like this two young ladies, that posed so kindly for this portrait.

They represent a very important part of the mexican rural tradition.
In frequent encounters, in tournaments (the so called "charreadas"), dressed to the traditional way, they make a show off of their abilities in different activities, mounted on their horses or not.

This organ player is on one of the most traditional corners of the historic neighborhood in Mexico city. The stones of this and most of the other buildings in this area are the same that the aztecs used for their construction before the spaniards conquest. The tradition of organ players in this city is of more than 100 years.

Known as "carne al pastor", it is similar to the muslim "Kebab", but based on a kind of meet that they would never eat: pork.

For December 12th is usual for local people to dress in the former aztec emperors way, to celebrate the Guadalupe s Virgin day, national patron of Mexico.
|

A liquid based on pork grease, is dumped into boiling oil. After a few minutes it is solidified and ready for sale... Although it is not the most nutritive food, it is very popular as snack (or botanas, after the name mexicans give to this kind of food).

To the sole rhythm of the drums, differents groups of people dance to celebrate the Guadalupe Virgin s day, December the 12th (Torreón, Coahuila).
